Every year, the Alameda Elks are proud to participate in an Americanism Essay contest, sponsored by our national organization headquarters.  The essay contest is open to ALL 5th-8th grade children, even if their parents are not Elks members.  As Elks, we endeavor to promote pride of citizenship and patriotism among the youth of our great country.  This year’s topic is:

What Makes You Proud of America

Prizes are awarded to a 5th &6th Division and to a 7th & 8th Grade Division.

  • First prize is $250
  • 2nd prize is $150
  • 3rd prize is $100

As an incentive to have students participate, a bonus of $100 will be awarded to the class of the two first place winners in their divisions.

The contest starts with our local lodge in Alameda on December 15th and progresses through District and State levels, and ends with the naming of our National Winners at the Grand Lodge Session in St. Louis, MO in July 2019.
