This past Friday was the setting for Alameda Lodge #1015 to pay a fond farewell to our outgoing Exalted Ruler Dean Seaquist and his lovely First Lady Vi. Our Rathskellar banquet room was filled to the brim with members and guests who gathered to pay tribute and express their thanks to Dean and Vi. Under Dean’s leadership, Lodge membership remained stable; the Lodge activity calendar remained as robust as ever and the Elks launched a “first in the area” Antlers program. As is their tradition, the Alameda Elks won the Bay Area Ritual Contest AGAIN, illustrating all of the work that our Officers put in on behalf of the Lodge and the Elks in general. Congratulations and thank you Dean and Vi!
The Officer of the Year award was awarded to Thayer “Dan” Hall IV, who also won 1st place for his individual category in the Ritual competition. Congratulations and thank you Dan!
The Elk of the Year was awarded to Nick Pereira, Col. USMC, (Ret) for his tireless work on behalf of Veteran’s causes and in support of our active duty military, stationed in Alameda and in remote parts of the world. From his chairmanship of the Veteran’s Committee, to his direction of the Annual Veteran’s Dinner, to his planning of the annual visit to the California Veteran’s Home in Yountville, Ca and by his many other activities; Nick is a tireless worker and a role model for Elks everywhere. Congratulations and thank you Nick!
